analog-digital transformations

volatility, uncertainty, complexity, ambiquity – vuca is an analog-digital cultural format that combines digitality and social contexts. In particular, the “artistic moment” of an on-site performance is recreated in virtual form. During our “laboratory stay” from May 2022 to July 2023, the main focus was on the transformation of artistic forms of expression from the “analog” to the “digital” space. Anything else ? No plugins. Using the example of three virtual exhibitions, vuca creates an experience that is as authentic as possible: without apps, without plugins, “internet only”. This focuses on the users, in particular they are “picked up where they usually are”, namely on the Internet. For this reason, access barriers such as plug-ins or similar have been dispensed with. However, the WebGL standard for the transmission of three-dimensional content in web browsers (Web Graphics Library) does not yet offer all the possibilities that are available offline. But still a lot.

Over several production stages, “real” movements of “real” people were turned into three-dimensional, virtual moving presentations for the Internet. These allow users to navigate around completely free from a “first-person perspective” and interact with the rooms, assets and digital artists (avatars). Due to this kind of (moving) art, the sample applications are suitable for a larger target audience, even internationally.

“More is always possible”, which is why vuca also represents a “laboratory of future developments”. Not just for us. The presentations are constantly updated with new functions (interactions, control, layout, choreography, …).

Dynamism in artistic expression stands for an intensive relationship between time, space and emotions. It describes “snapshots” that are immediately ephemeral in their creation. By trying to pause, we reach for meaning and context (–> Details & Start).

Dynamism in artistic expression stands for an intensive relationship between time, space and emotions. It describes “snapshots” that are immediately ephemeral in their creation. By trying to pause, we reach for meaning and context.

Details & Start

Movement creates closeness. And the special moment. Artistically as well as atmospherically. At the same time, everything is fleeting, especially the moment ! What is left when movements create unique instants ? Puzzle pieces for the cinema of mind, a tangible experience of time and spac, or episodes of a rapprochement between art and knowledge? Let’s stay curious.

Sarah Schröter [Rothenburg O.L.], artist and dance teacher, focuses on authentic forms of movement, expressiveness and personality development. She strikingly brings these (almost) everyday aspects of life to the stage and explores their effect with relish. In doing so, she relies on a high degree of empathy and sensitivity in order to artistically implement topics relating to interpersonal relationships: Sarah Schröter impressively loves and lives dance, movement, expression and encounters.

Materials in motion ! Arrangement and structure shape the interplay of man and material, because art changes, deforms and transforms our idea of utility, value and the concept of time.

Details & Start

What remains (behind) when something comes into being ? And what happens when something changes – as a result – out of it ? Motion and structure. Both are elements that the artist relates to each other and from which he brings about recurring transformations and transitions: the materiality of the moment is gradually combined with the creative power of design processes. Bon appetit.

Sascha Röhricht [Görlitz] – photography, poetry, video, painting, performance. Numerous exhibitions and exhibition participations in Germany and abroad, exhibition catalogues and other publications. Works in collections: Ernst-Rietschel-Kulturring e.V. Pulsnitz; Sakralmuseum St. Annen Kamenz; Zittau Collections (Museum Zittau); private collections – including Germany, Great Britain, Spain, South Africa, Zanzibar and Poland.

Hand on the pen, story in sight. Where do my thoughts come from ? What drives me ? The fine streak of light on the horizon is called humor, it knows no pigeonholes, no differences, and transcends borders. And spreads happiness.

Details & Start

Looking at the hidden reveals the process – concept, craft, artwork, pen, paper: performative art on a small scale, the movements resemble a solo sonata for any kind of drawing instrument. Thereby, strokes and surfaces shape sequences of images that provide a view of the composition’s perspective design element. The freedom of mind determines the impact and gets to tell its story. With or without color.

Sabine Euler [Görlitz] works as a freelance cartoonist and illustrator. For some time now, she has been putting together her favourite parts of all the professions she has ever tried out: Captering on paper with ink and crayon what she has seen, heard, spied on and experienced, whereby her preferred subject remains the exciting life as a woman, friend and mother. Her work can be seen in the German states of Saxony, Hesse and also on the Internet. Currently she is delighting the public with her first book publications.
